The European Union (EU) and India share a commitment to human rights, sustainable development, and open trade. Their bilateral relations cover a range of topics, including:


Political dialogue
The two have institutionalized political dialogues on topics such as counter-terrorism, cyber security, migration, maritime security, human rights, and non-proliferation.
Cooperation
The EU and India have a joint action plan that aims to strengthen cooperation in world peacekeeping missions, developing civil nuclear energy, and fighting against terror.
Trade
The EU and India have launched a Trade and Technology Council to focus on green technologies and digital transformation. They also signed a Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) in March 2024.
Connectivity
The EU and India have adopted joint declarations to improve connectivity, water, and resource efficiency

Amidst these opportunities, challenges such as regulatory disparities, market access concerns, and geopolitical complexities emerge.
